Gogh feels the relationship with Marguerite is becoming increasingly complex. In his head, the sound gets louder and louder, and he begins to leave a distorted image in the painting.
Marguerite: "Vincent, why do you look so dark?"
Gogh: "I hear the sound. Can you hear it?"
Marguerite: "The sound? What?"
Gogh: "The non-stop sound that comes out of my head. It comes to me constantly ringing."
His paintings gradually begin to reflect anxiety and confusion. Lines are blurred, colors are getting more distorted, and in his work, Marguerite's face is becoming increasingly unclear. For Gogh, even her everyday movements become all these moments of increasing distortion and confusion in his consciousness.
